In Jones’ defense, the offensive line struggled against better competition and he was under duress often.Ĭarter had good numbers this spring as well, throwing for 465 yards and five touchdowns. Jones threw all three interceptions in JSU’s losses against the Hornets and Jaguars. Jones completed 55.25 percent of his passes for over 1,000 yards, 11 touchdowns, and three interceptions. Then, after back-to-back losses to Alabama State and Southern, Jones was pulled in favor of Carter. Jones started the first five games for the Tigers this spring playing well, though he struggled with accuracy at times. Jones lands at Mississippi Delta Community College while Carter transferred to SWAC, rival Alabama A&M University. Fortunately for HBCU football stars Jalon Jones and Quincy Carter, they will not have that issue next fall. ![]() But, for many college football players, the scholarship is the only route to a college degree. The fear of the transfer portal is the possibility of going unsigned. ![]()
